This capital is opaque and not heavily marketed, unlike the standard capital markets PE funds. Most of this capital is typically with development finance institutions, clean energy funds and governmental development agencies; which have set aside capital to support and scale up these projects in developing countries.
The capital can be provided in the form of equity, debt or hybrid and the structure of the project financing can be mapped to the long gestation period of such projects.
